That's what really surprises me. Why is this term borrowed from chess composition? Has no one discovered the same thing in two centuries of inventing problems in shogi? Novotny published a problem with this idea in the middle of the 19th century.

In Tsume Shogi, Kanju Ito created problems featuring the Novotny and Plachutta themes in 1755. This is truly astonishing.
However, no one gave these themes a name. In Tsume Shogi, it is quite common for tactical motifs to exist without being named.
